What type of roof do you have?

Fibre-cement corrugated sheets – the grey, wavy roof on most houses built before 1988.

Flat, slate-like fibre-cement tiles, often on older villas and townhouses.

There is no rate for a roof nobody has seen. Send the enquiry and we will arrange a site survey and identify the roof type there.

How to read the price

  • Indicative, not binding

The price is the roof area times our fixed per-m² rate for the roof type. The final quote follows an assessment of the roof and holds from then on.

  • The price first, contact afterwards

You see the price without telling us anything about yourself. If you want a fixed quote, you send the enquiry and the figures travel with it.

  • Disposal is included

Packing, transport to an approved receiving facility and the landfill fee are in the per-m² price. Scaffolding is not, unless otherwise agreed, and a new roof never is.

Per-m² prices. Fixed rates per m² of roof area, incl. VAT.

The price is the roof area in m² times the rate. Removal, packing, transport and the landfill fee are included.

Fibre-cement corrugated sheets DKK 385/m² incl. VAT (DKK 308/m² excl. VAT)
Fibre-cement slates DKK 585/m² incl. VAT (DKK 468/m² excl. VAT)

What does asbestos removal cost? The price of removing an asbestos roof, explained.

Asbestos roof removal – the price per m². The price of removing an asbestos roof is a fixed rate per m² of roof area: fibre-cement corrugated sheets cost DKK 385/m² incl. VAT (DKK 308/m² excl. VAT), and fibre-cement slates cost DKK 585/m² incl. VAT (DKK 468/m² excl. VAT). Disposal is in the rate. If the roof type is unknown, we arrange a site survey and identify it there.

What does it cost to remove the asbestos roof on a detached house? The worked example further down shows a detached house with corrugated sheets. That is the job most enquiries look like. Sheds, garages and carports are billed at the same rate per m², and so are long farmhouses and agricultural buildings.

Disposal is in the price. We pack the sheets in approved big bags or sealed plastic, drive them to an approved receiving facility, pay the landfill fee and give you the receipt. You never have to find a skip, drive asbestos waste anywhere or work out where it may be handed in. It is not a line you have to add on top.

Asbestos removal price – what the figure covers. The rate is an authorised asbestos removal from start to finish: notification to the Working Environment Authority, cordoning and enclosing the work area, protective equipment for the crew, taking the sheets down whole so they do not release dust, and disposal with documentation. That is the part of the job which requires authorisation, and it is what you pay for.

What is not included. Scaffolding is not in the price unless otherwise agreed; it is put up to suit the roof height and the shape of the house and is priced separately in the quote. A new roof is never part of the asbestos removal price. Neither are new battens, underlay and flashings, or unforeseen finds such as asbestos in ceilings or under the roofing sheets. If the roof is being replaced, the removal appears as its own line in the quote, so you can compare it line by line with other quotes.

Why the price is indicative. The calculator works from roof type and roof area. Condition we only see at the site survey: weathered sheets release more dust and come down more slowly. That is why the figure is indicative, and the final quote is given after an assessment and holds from then on.

Subsidies are not deducted. The calculator shows the full price. There is currently no grant scheme for removing asbestos roofs, and the home-improvement tax deduction covers neither the removal nor a new roof. We never deduct a subsidy from an indicative figure. If your municipality has a fund, mention it when you send the enquiry.

What happens after the calculator? If you send the enquiry, the roof type, area and price travel with it. We get back to you, arrange a site survey, and then give you a fixed written quote. If you are unsure whether the roof contains asbestos at all, we take samples for laboratory analysis before planning anything.

Indicative price – final quote after assessment.

  • Transport to an approved receiving facility and the landfill fee

What decides the price. Six factors, from material to samples.

  1. Material

Corrugated sheets and fibre-cement slates each have their own per-m² rate. Slates sit in many small pieces, each of which has to be loosened, kept whole and packed, so they sit higher.

  2. Extent

The price is the roof area in m² times the rate – the roof area, not the footprint. A small shed and a long farmhouse are billed at the same rate.

  3. Disposal

Packing, transport to an approved receiving facility and the landfill fee are in the per-m² price. You never have to drive asbestos waste anywhere or work out where it may be handed in.

  4. Scaffolding

Scaffolding is not in the price unless otherwise agreed. It is put up to suit the roof height and the shape of the house and is priced separately in the quote.

  5. Condition

Weathered or broken sheets release more dust and come down more slowly. We see that at the site survey, which is why the figure is indicative until the quote is written.

  6. Samples

If it is not settled whether the roof contains asbestos, we take samples for laboratory analysis before the work is planned.

Detached house with corrugated sheets

Fibre-cement corrugated sheets, 120 m² roof area

DKK 46,200 incl. VAT

(DKK 36,960 excl. VAT, DKK 385/m² incl. VAT). Enclosure, removal, packing and disposal are included. Scaffolding and a new roof are not.

Not a roof? Priced by quote. Indoor asbestos depends too much on the house for a fixed per-m² price.

Before you decide

The usual questions about the price.

What does removing an asbestos roof cost per m²?

Fibre-cement corrugated sheets cost DKK 385/m² incl. VAT (DKK 308/m² excl. VAT), and fibre-cement slates cost DKK 585/m² incl. VAT (DKK 468/m² excl. VAT). Removal, packing, transport to an approved receiving facility and the landfill fee are in the rate; scaffolding is not. Indicative price – final quote after assessment.

Is the price from the calculator binding?

No. The calculator multiplies the roof area by our fixed rate for the roof type. The final quote is given after a site survey, and that quote holds unless something turns up that nobody could see in advance, such as asbestos under the roofing sheets.

Is disposal included in the price?

Yes. We pack the sheets, drive them to an approved receiving facility, pay the landfill fee and give you the receipt — that is in the per-m² price. Notification, enclosure, protective equipment and the removal itself are in it too. Scaffolding, a new roof and reinstatement are not.

Is scaffolding included in the price?

No. The price excludes scaffolding unless otherwise agreed. Scaffolding is put up to suit the roof height and the shape of the house, and we price it separately in the quote so you can see the line.

Is a new roof included in the price?

No. The asbestos removal is priced on its own, so you can compare it line by line with other quotes. If the roof is being replaced, we put the removal as a separate line, and the carpenter or roofing firm takes care of the new roof.

What if I don't know the roof area?

Choose "don't know" in the calculator. We then skip the figure and arrange a site survey instead, where we measure the roof and give you a fixed written quote. An indicative figure based on a guess would be of no use anyway.
