What does it cost to remove an asbestos roof?
Indicative prices for asbestos removal
Only asbestos roofs have fixed per-m² rates. Indoor jobs such as tile adhesive, ceiling panels and pipe insulation get a fixed quote in writing based on your details, because the containment and negative-pressure setup decide how long the work takes.

How does asbestos removal work?

Your details and sampling
You tell us about the job. If anything is unclear, or you ask us to, we come out and look at it free of charge. If you are unsure about the material, we arrange an asbestos sample and laboratory analysis, so we know what needs removing.

Fixed quote and notification
You get a written quote with a fixed price and a plan. We notify the Working Environment Authority before we start, and we help with the municipality's waste notification.

Sealing off and securing
We cordon off the work area and put down protective sheeting around it. For indoor removal we work under negative pressure with an airlock, so asbestos fibres spread as little as possible to the rest of the building.

Removal and packing
We take the asbestos-containing materials down using methods that keep dust to a minimum, pack them in approved packaging and label them.

Cleaning, clearance and disposal
We clean the area, and after indoor work we only reopen it once it has passed a clearance check. The waste goes to an approved facility, and you get the documentation.
What is asbestos, and when is it dangerous? The fibres become dangerous when the material is disturbed.
Asbestos is a group of mineral fibres used in Danish building materials from the early 1900s until around 1990, including fibre-cement roofs, ceiling panels, tile adhesive, vinyl floors, filler and pipe insulation. It was cheap, durable and fire-resistant, which is why many buildings from before 1990 still contain asbestos materials.
- Intact and bonded
- Asbestos that is bonded and whole releases few fibres.
- Drilled, sawn, broken or ground
- Harmful fibres are released, small enough to reach deep into the lungs. Many years later they can cause asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma.

When does asbestos removal need an authorisation?
When asbestos-containing material is demolished or removed. Since 1 January 2025 that requires an authorisation, unless the work is brief and of a minor nature.

- The authorisation is issued by the Danish Business Authority (formerly the Danish Safety Technology Authority), and the company's responsible professional also needs a personal approval.
- Exemption for minor work
- Brief work of a minor nature is exempt. The Working Environment Authority's examples are 4–6 roof sheets around one roof window, a few tiles that break when you drill into them, and 1–2 pipe bends taken down whole. Cutting into the insulation requires authorisation.
- No splitting
- A larger job may not be split into several small ones to get round the requirement.
- Training since 21 December 2025
- Everyone who does asbestos work for a company must hold the mandatory occupational health and safety training.
- Notification to the Working Environment Authority
- The work must be notified to the Working Environment Authority before it starts.
- Waste to an approved facility
- The waste is packed, labelled and taken to an approved facility. For work over 10 m² or 1 tonne of waste, you as the building owner notify the municipality of the waste, and we help with the details.
Where is asbestos usually found in a house?

Fibre-cement roofs and roof sheets
Roofs of corrugated fibre cement and fibre-cement slate from before 1990 can contain asbestos. Only an asbestos sample can show whether yours does.

Ceilings and walls
Ceiling panels, wall panels and filler can contain asbestos, especially in buildings from before about 1980.

Floors, vinyl and tile adhesive
Tile adhesive and vinyl floors from before about 1980 can contain asbestos. The tiles have to come up without the adhesive turning into dust.

Pipe and technical insulation
Heating pipes in basements and plant rooms may be insulated with asbestos-containing diatomite or asbestos paper, especially in houses from before 1972. We assess the condition of the material and then remove or encapsulate it.

What does asbestos removal cost?
Removing an asbestos roof costs from DKK 365/m² incl. VAT (DKK 292/m² excl. VAT), depending on roof type and roof area. Disposal is included in the price. Indicative price – final quote after assessment. All per-m² prices exclude scaffolding, but we can put it up for you. For an ordinary single-storey house, the scaffolding costs DKK 15,625 incl. VAT (DKK 12,500 excl. VAT). Indoor jobs such as tile adhesive, pipe insulation and ceiling panels have no fixed per-m² price, because the extent of the work and the containment set the price. You get a fixed written quote based on your details.
How do I know if there is asbestos in my house?
Only an asbestos sample analysed by a laboratory can tell. You can't see asbestos with the naked eye. Houses built or renovated before 1990 may have asbestos in fibre-cement roofs, tile adhesive, vinyl floors, ceiling panels, pipe insulation and filler. We arrange a sample and an analysis, and you get the result before you decide anything.
Does asbestos always have to be removed, or can it be encapsulated?
Not always. Intact asbestos that nobody disturbs can stay in place or be encapsulated. If the material is damaged, it has to be encapsulated or removed, and if you are renovating where it sits, it usually has to be removed first. We assess it from the material's condition and your plans and tell you what the rules require.
Can we stay at home during indoor removal?
Usually yes, in the rest of the home. We seal off the area we work in and keep it under negative pressure with an airlock, so the dust stays inside. Before we start, we agree with you which parts of your home you can use.
How long does asbestos removal take?
It varies with the job. For a roof, it depends on the area, the scaffolding and the access, and indoors on how much has to be sealed off and put under negative pressure. You get a schedule with the quote.
